Following the weigh in frenzy at other yards Team Measures decided to weigh their new hull before fitting out and keel fitting
It was witnessed by the waiting crowd as 175 gms we now await the all up weight which should be revealed in the weeks to come.
Team boss LITTLE ‘t’ said he was very encouraged by the outcome but still had some reservations regarding electrical components and might have to seek help from another source. ( as with McLaren racing who make the hardware for all formula 1 cars but not the software).
It was also revealed that a name change might be on the cards before the launch and subsequent sea trails.
All very exciting from Team Measures and can we take this opportunity to say I'm sure the other teams would be glad to help with the electrics. Darbryl electrical engineer T-Pot is standing by and mentions he may have the odd servo coming in over the next few weeks that could help.
Seems a bit weighty at first glance, but then Alice proved last year that this division could well favour the weightier boat
ReplyDeleteNelsons Rear Admiral makes a very valid comment, but although the 2011 championship favoured the heavier vessel i think that you will find that this was just luck. It very much depends on the wind conditions on the day. If you cast your memory back to the BHMYC round i think you will find that it was Laird Consulting that won the day and the fleet was evenly matched at the exciting Witterings round. This was due to some significant mid season improvement but also because the weather suited. I think you will find huge leaps in sail technology and rig and vang adjustment in the 2012 season that will negate the advantage Alice once held. I have heard for example that Triton is experimenting with an Asymetric for advanced downwind sailing! lets not speak too soon about weight.
ReplyDeleteI think team Alice may be able to help out with a receiver, and mega servo and maybe an older battery pack, though this will tack a big scrub up!
ReplyDeleteYep, to confirm Darbryl have certainly got an old style 4xAA battery pack and likely receiving a delivery of 9g Micro Servos that would drive your rudder no worries
ReplyDeleteThanks teams - will check to see what exactly is needed
ReplyDeleteDidn't you have an old transmitter in the boathouse?
