SCORING SYSTEM FOR RACE SERIES

The “Low point system” (see ISAF rule A4) will be used for series races.

Finishing Boats - First place - 1 point
                               - Second place - 2 points, etc

Retiring boats (DNF) - The same points as the number of boats entering

Disqualified Boats - 1 point more than the number of boats entering

Boats not Competing (DNC) The same points as the score of the last finishing boat in the race of the series having the largest number of boats starting, discounting boats which have not sailed in at least half the sailed races.  Where no boat competes in every race of the series, the number of races to count shall be the largest number sailed by any one boat less the appropriate discard.

Should there be a tie on total points between two or more boats, the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat or boats with the most first places and, should any such boats remain tied, the most second places and so on. Should this method fail to resolve the tie the process outlined in ISAF A8 should be followed, ie the first boat to get the best place.

Discards - The number of discards allowed is as follows:

Number of Races sailed
1-2                discard nil
3-5                discard 1
6-10              discard 2

Race Rules

The Race Course will be decided on the day by the race officer of the series host. This will normally be of the IASF sausage, windward leeward, setup. The number of laps will be determined by the wind conditions on the day but will not be less than 1 lap and shall be no longer than 10 minutes. The number of races shall nominally be 3 in number but may be more or less on the day.

Starting Sequence - shall be a 1 minute gun, once the boats are roughly in position. They will then jostle for position but must be under the start line by the time of start. If they are considered to be OCS (judged by a majority) then they must round the start buoy before starting.

Course Rounding - marks can be rounded to port or starboard or both depending on the race officers discretion on the day.

Right Of Way - No Footy shall be considered to have right of way during the race. However deliberate collisions will be considered to be dangerous and unsafe and any offending Footy will be disqualified from the race.
