Darbryl build commences.

Snippets from the dry dock. Following the success of the previous snippets we have decided to introduce it as a regular feature. This week we bring you news of the Darbryl Team build which has now started.

Team Boss T-Bag said "We have opted to use a hard chine design for our vessel which gives excellent performance whilst heeled over and should give us the edge against the more rounded hull of Team Alice". The design will be similar to the Laird Consulting 370t, but has been brought up to date with the latest composite materials and construction techniques. "We shall be adopting the /Hagerup Air-Build/ methodology for our build" says Team Engineer Mr T.

The Footy370t Committee look forward to seeing the results in the coming months.

  1. Sir I put it to you that you are delusional, Alice is clearly a hard chined boat. Her design is a beamy skiff like design and it is this feature that gives her excellent performance on the upwind beat and planning performance on the downwind leg. I am interested however in this hagerup air build methodology as we here in the Americas Cup design house are looking to employ this technique in our next designs!

  2. Thank you for your comments - we have raised the issue with the Darbryl Team Boss and he agrees - he assumes he must have been drunk when quoted, as Alice is quite clearly a hard chine design. Still, in the interest of "smack talk" he went on to say that "Alice sails like your momma, and Darbryl will leave it for dead".
