So the preparation for the 2013 round of racing has started with the Darbryl team retiring Laird and Darbryl 2 so that they can concentrate on a single boat.
You may remember that Darbryl suffered catastrophic failure of their rudder servo during the final races. To combat this the team have re-engineered the critical system and replaced the gearing with metal rather than plastic. Although this will increase weight the increase in durability should more than make up for the trade-off.
We look forward to the first racing - perhaps in May?
An interesting season ahead then? Team Triton has spent the laying off period undergoing some major re-design of her hulls, sail and foils!! looks like we have got another season of excitement ahead.
